The Report That Grades Its Own Homework

Holywater and Owl & Co published the first operator-authored audience report on microdrama, and Hernan Lopez wrote the foreword. Read that twice. The company measuring the market owns two of the apps being measured, My Drama and My Muse, and the man signing off is the closest thing this industry has to a licensed skeptic. That's not a scandal, it's a tell: nobody with clean audited numbers has bothered to publish a market report, so the vendor with the deck fills the vacuum. The only audited figures in the sector this month came from Mega Matrix's 6-K — revenue down 28% year over year, ad spend at 47% of the top line, EBITDA still bleeding at −5.6M. That's the actual state of microdrama. The Owl & Co report is the state its authors would like circulated instead.

The rankings underneath tell a plainer story than either document. Sister Stole My Guy, I Got the Emperor sits at VDS 88.2 almost entirely on ad pressure — 97.5, no consumer_pull data at all — while Dr.Wifey Please Touch Me carries the week's actual audience, consumer_pull 95, reach 95, and doesn't crack the ad-spend top ten. One title is being bought into visibility. The other is earning it. Spend is not demand, and this week the data finally admits it instead of averaging it away.

This analysis crosses data from 13 independent sources. The VerticalDrama Score (VDS) is a proprietary composite metric.
