The Distribution Layer Is Where the Money Is Moving

Look past the ReelShort chart this week and the more interesting fact is who's building pipes rather than shows. Whale TV pushing FlareFlow onto living-room screens across South America, TF1 Pub reorganizing its ad arsenal around video as the new battleground, Fox pressing ahead on its $22 billion Roku bid despite DOJ scrutiny — none of these are content stories. They're plumbing stories. The vertical drama industry spent two years obsessing over IP and format; the current fight is over who owns the door the viewer walks through, mobile or TV OS, and whether a microdrama app can survive being a guest on someone else's operating system rather than the landlord.

France offers the small-scale version of the same tension. Sweetz launches with over a million euros in seed money as a Kovalee-Nation joint venture, and its cofounder does the rounds on BFM Business — not selling a show, selling an app. Compare that to Redseer's Indian AVOD numbers, a market sized in crores because ad monetization at scale is the actual product there, not the drama itself.

The reallocation is already visible: platforms are the asset now, content is the traffic that justifies owning one.

This analysis crosses data from 12 independent sources. The VerticalDrama Score (VDS) is a proprietary composite metric.
